Hawaiian Lomi Lomi or “loving hands” is a holistic massage that acknowledges the mind, body and soul. This healing massage uses light touch and long sweeping movements across the whole body to imitate the motions of gentle waves. The rhythm of the massage is fluid and rhythmic, like a dance, to allow you to enter a state of deep relaxation.
In order to acknowledge the whole body, draping is usually minimal. You are uncovered aside from your private areas, and you can either be nude or wearing underwear if you feel more comfortable.
Lomi Lomi is based on the belief that we all hold energy, and aligns with the traditional ‘Huna’ principles:
